For the last weekend of April I jetted off to Italy to visit some friends. I’ve blogged about a trip here before, but this time we also got up to some exciting things that I want to share with you!
Milan
We started the weekend in Milan, visiting the Duomo and doing a little bit of shopping too!

I love the architecture here, and the colours of the buildings against the blue sky are amazing!

We went to a rooftop bar called Brian and Barry for aperitivo in the evening. It’s on the 10th floor of the building and we sat on the terrace and looked out over the Milan skyline as we sipped on Spritz.

We got lots of great nibbles to go with our drinks too

For dinner we went to Le Sorelle Capitone restaurant.
It was pizza all round! But you can’t go to Italy without eating pizza can you?

There were loads of different pizza toppings to choose from as well as fish and pasta dishes. The restaurant had a bit of a nautical theme going on too which was fun!
Lake Como
We got the train to Varenna, in Lake Como, to stay with another friend. It’s only an hour from Milan by train and costs about 7 euros, so well worth a day trip!
It was lovely and sunny so we spent the day outside, wandering round Varenna (it’s really tiny but so beautiful!).

We had some more aperitivo in the evening overlooking the lake at Café Varenna.

It was so nice to sit in the sun and catch up with the girls!
We then went to a restaurant for some prosecco and had a lovely meal there. I had an amazing chocolate and pear tart that I’m still dreaming about now!

We also took the ferry to Lenno, another small lakeside town. From there you can walk up to Villa Balbianello which you might recognise from the Star Wars films and Casino Royale.

Villa Balbianello
The Villa can also be used for weddings – it’s so stunning and you and your guests can get a boat there so I can see why it’s a popular choice!

Oh, and there was plenty of time for ice cream of course…

Have you ever been to Milan or Lake Como? Let me know what your favourite things to do there are!
