Lake Como…

When you wake up to a view like this from your bedroom you know you are going to have a good day, and Annie gets to wake up to this every morning – it sure beats the rooftops of London.

We walked along the front of the lake to get the ferry from Varenna to Bellagio, another small town on Lake Como. In typical Piazza Castello fashion we were running late, but still managed to stop and take a few hundered photos on the short 5 minute walk. But who can blame us when the view looked like this!

After a very cold ferry ride we were in Bellagio. We had all been before but it still had the same effect on us – it is so pretty and idyllic. As it was winter we were some of the few people in the town and I can imagine in the summer it is overrun with tourists admiring the winding streets and little shops.

After taking the ferry back Annie showed us round Varenna – again equally as pretty and also equally as quiet. It felt like we had the place to ourselves.

After exploring the local area and the town centre we ended our trip with an amazing dinner (in the only open restaurant, our choice was limited). We ate at the Ristorante Victoria Grill which was like a heated greenhouse on the main town piazza. The food was amazing and I had beef followed by mille-feuille which was just so good I had to take a photo.

Thank you Annie for being the best tour guide and host. Italy you can’t keep me away for long, I’ll be back soon!
