I recently took a trip to Pho and Bun on Shaftesbury avenue to try some very delicious Vietnamese food.
We chose from a 5 course tasting menu and honestly it was so hard to decide what to eat as it all sounded amazing! There is both a vegetarian and standard menu so we were spoilt for choice.
In the end we went for:
Mango Salad with tiger prawns and honey glazed spare ribs
The combination of flavours in the mango salad were perfect, it was a really refreshing dish.
Sticky Honey Chicken wings
Chili salt & pepper squid
Pork and crab spring roll
Vegetable spring roll
I had never tried crab before and but it was really tasty and went so well with the dipping sauce.
The vegetable spring roll was great too, there was a really wide range of vegetarian dishes on the menu so any vegetarians would be spoilt for choice.
For mains we both went for Bao burgers. I had a 28 days dry aged beef bao burger:
The buns have a slightly sweet taste and spongy texture. My burger was so full of flavour I would definitely choose it again!
The bao burgers are all fresh and made using home made mayonnaise and free range organic meat, so you know you’re getting good quality food.
Finally, for dessert, we went for the homemade soft yoghurt ice cream:
And the Pandan & coconut panna cotta:
The yoghurt ice cream was my favourite, it was creamy and really refreshing.
I had never tried anything like the pandan and coconut panna cotta but I really enjoyed it. I loved the flavours together and it felt like a light and fruity dessert, especially with the pineapple pieces.
The atmosphere and décor of the restaurant were great, the restaurant isn’t very big and you sit on stools around little tables. There are black and white pictures of Vietnam on the wall as well as painted wall art.
There was a relaxed vibe and great music in the background. Service was fast and friendly too.
Overall, I would recommend Pho and Bun to anyone craving some delicious Vietnamese food!
